ABOUT EXTERNAL WALL INSULATION

Renewable energy and energy saving options have become more and more popular over the last decade or so, with the options of things such as solar panels, wind & water energy, cavity wall insulation and loft insulation becoming the most often used. Insulating our homes has never been more important as we all strive for lower energy bills and more efficient homes.

For those who own homes and businesses built prior to the 1920’s, the options for insulating are far more limited due to the likelihood of the walls being of solid construction and not the current cavity structure used today.

If you have solid walls or do not want the risk of damp due to poorly installed cavity wall insulation, external wall insulation could be for you.

Did you know... Around 35% of our homes heat is lost through the walls alone! And housing accounted for around 30% of all the UK's carbon dioxide emissions in 2004? That's a whopping 40 million tonnes of carbon! Our housing stock in the UK is among the least energy efficient in Europe.

In recent years, many changes have taken place to reduce our energy usage and make our homes and businesses more energy efficient including changes to Building Regulations which enforce the better use of construction materials and insulation. There have also been changes to the home energy labelling, with the introduction of the Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's) which are currently required when selling or letting a property.

Sadly, some of the other ideas have been less effective. The Green Deal was a scheme designed to offer the homeowner the option of financing their home energy improvements by borrowing the money to complete the work then spreading the repayments out over a number of years. The idea being that the monthly savings on the energy bills would mean the repayments would cost no more than the original household energy spending. This scheme has proven difficult to secure and caused many headaches for home/business owners when trying to sell their properties as the outstanding debt remains on the house and not the person.

There are companies who are able to secure finance in order for people to complete their home energy improvements however, this finance comes at a high cost and gives the homeowner little flexibility in controlling their work. These finance options often require the purchase of reports upfront to ensure that sufficient saving can be made and no confirmed finance is approved until after these reports are complete. There is also no guarantee that these reports will result in finance approval.

Our tradesmen have undertaken the full training to install energy saving measures and have many happy customers who are already making savings and regularily enjoying cheaper energy bills.

Ultimately, our goals are to continue to grow our business with happy customers and make our contribution to providing our children and grandchildren with a better environment in the future.

WHAT IS EXTERNAL WALL INSULATION?

External wall insulation is the installation of an insulating material to the exterior wall of your home or business premises. The insulation is then covered with a specialised render or cladding and completed in a finish that suits your taste, property style and budget.

The insulation will keep your home warmer and save you £££'s in heating costs and the render coating will provide you with a watertight exterior and a beautiful new external finish.

It is also possible to insulate and render only selected walls so if you have a cold or damp wall that takes a battering from the weather, you could make a considerable improvement by insulating and rendering the one wall. This is popular choice if you have a limited budget.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

External wall insulation and rendering is a large investment but hopefully, one that will pay for itself in no time. Finishes and styles are available in a range of options to suit both your budget and your style. Here at Renov8, we are a small, local and family run business who undertake a huge range of residential and commercial work. Our running costs are far lower than the large insulation companies so we believe in passing those savings on to our customers rather than being greedy with our profits.

Our prices will have NO HIDDEN EXTRAS and all estimates inclcude scaffolding (where necessary), materials, labour and all waste removed from site by a registered contractor.
